Data register

Every number has a source, a date and a caveat.

This page is the public data inventory. It is intentionally more specific than a footer credit. If a licence, reference year or coverage count is missing, that is a bug, not a detail.

Holdings

SEC Form N-PORT

Public regulatory filings, retrieved in batch. No issuer-page scraping.

Economy

World Bank WDI

Status

Snapshot, not live

The app reads reviewed snapshots. A failed refresh leaves the old data visible and dated.

Update cadence

Refresh, review, then publish.

  • SEC N-PORT: quarterly public filings, with report dates varying by fund. A scheduled operator refreshes the snapshot and reviews the diff. A failed refresh does not blank the site.
  • World Bank WDI: annual series, revised over time. Each metric stores the selected reference year and coverage. The benchmark is not silently blended across years.
  • Code deploy: the snapshot is versioned with the application and loaded idempotently. Old releases remain recorded for provenance.

Known limitations

  • No UCITS-wide feed. Major European issuers restrict commercial reuse of website holdings. A licensed vendor or written permission is required before publishing UCITS coverage. The current US reference catalogue is labelled as such.
  • No revenue geography. Issuer country is reported by the filing. It is not where revenue is earned.
  • Market-cap benchmark coverage is narrower. The World Bank indicator covers listed domestic companies, not all assets, and fewer countries than GDP/population.
  • Name-based company aggregation. It is an approximation across funds and share classes.
  • No natural-resource metric. No reliable, commercially reusable country series was selected; the comparison is deliberately omitted rather than proxied.
  • No advice. GDP is not a normative allocation. Nothing here is a recommendation.

Sources considered but not used by default

Issuer holdings pages

iShares, Vanguard, Amundi and Xtrackers public pages are not a commercial redistribution licence. No scraping is used.

IMF WEO

GDP series are useful, but IMF bulk/automated access and commercial reuse terms need explicit review. World Bank is the selected default.

WFE raw statistics

WFE's own statistics portal restricts reproduction absent permission. The World Bank-published indicator is used under its stated CC BY 4.0 metadata.

Before enabling a new provider: record the exact dataset, commercial-use terms, attribution, update frequency, retention, redistribution limits, data quality and exit rights. “Publicly accessible” is not the same as “licensed for commercial reuse”.
