ETF/Weight

About

A small instrument for a large question.

ETF Weight started with a simple observation: a portfolio can look diversified because it contains a global fund, while its country exposure is still concentrated in a handful of listed markets.

The goal is not to tell you that one country should have a particular weight. It is to make the difference visible, quantify it, and show the assumptions underneath.

Principles

  1. Show the residual. Cash and derivatives belong in the answer, not in a hidden normalisation.
  2. Date every dataset. A current-looking interface should not make stale holdings look live.
  3. License before import. Public visibility is not commercial reuse permission.
  4. No advice. The user brings the question. The tool does the arithmetic.

Who it is for

Curious long-term investors, students, journalists, product designers and anyone who wants to examine the gap between a portfolio's financial geography and the geography of the real economy.

Commercial reality

The initial catalogue uses US-listed reference funds with public SEC filings. A production UCITS catalogue needs a licensed holdings feed. That is documented as a decision, not hidden behind a generic “global ETF” claim.
